Sheet metal processing, which accounts for one third of the world's metal processing, is widely used in almost all walks of life. If the cutting process of thin sheet metal (the thickness of sheet metal is less than 6mm), it is nothing more than laser cutting, plasma cutting, flame cutting, plate cutting machine, stamping, etc. In the middle, laser cutting is rising and developing vigorously in recent years. In the field of metal plate cutting, from ultra-thin plate of micron level to thick plate of tens of millimeters, it can be cut perfectly and effectively. In a sense, laser cutting machine brings a technological revolution for sheet metal processing. Compared with the traditional cutting method, laser cutting is easier to understand and learn, and has absolute advantages in the processing effect and speed required by businesses. Therefore, it is believed that in the future cutting method selection, laser cutting machine will be the general trend.
So, why is laser cutting so good? Let's first introduce some origins and principles related to laser cutting technology. Laser technology is one of the four major inventions in the 20th century, which is as famous as atomic energy, semiconductor and computer. It is called "the fastest knife", "the most accurate ruler" and "the brightest light". However, the technology did not break through the original technical bottleneck until the 21st century. At the same time, through the combination of laser technology and advanced equipment, it promoted the development of advanced equipment manufacturing industry. At present, the application of laser technology has penetrated into metal processing, steel, aerospace, automobile manufacturing, medical equipment and other industries.
High power density laser beam is used to irradiate the cut material, so that the material is quickly heated to the vaporization temperature, and the vaporization forms a hole. With the movement of the beam on the material, the hole continuously forms a very narrow width (such as about 0.1mm) slit, which completes the cutting of the material - this is laser cutting. Laser cutting has high efficiency, high energy density and softness. It is the best choice for sheet metal cutting industry in terms of accuracy, speed and efficiency. As a precise machining method, laser cutting can cut almost all materials, including two-dimensional or three-dimensional cutting of thin metal plates. The laser can be focused into a very small spot, which can be used for micro and precision machining, such as micro slit and micro hole machining. In addition, the tool is not needed in machining, which belongs to non-contact machining and has no machining deformation. Some of the traditional difficult to cut or cut low-quality plates can be easily solved after laser cutting, especially for the cutting of some carbon steel plates, laser cutting has an unshakable position.
In recent years, laser cutting technology has gradually become the "competitive" skill of various manufacturers. Due to its wide application, it can be divided into four categories: laser vaporization cutting, laser melting and melting cutting, laser oxygen cutting, laser dicing and fracture control. It is worth mentioning that laser melt cutting can cut all the fusible materials, such as metal.
When using laser to cut stainless steel, the method of coaxial injection of high-pressure nitrogen and laser beam is usually used to blow away the molten metal so that no oxide will form on the cutting surface. This is a good method, but it costs more than traditional oxygen cutting. One way to replace pure nitrogen is to use filtered workshop compressed air, which is composed of 78% nitrogen. The speed of using filtered compressed air in laser cutting is faster than that of using oxygen or nitrogen - generally 300ipm to 320ipm. Although some initial investment is needed for some equipment, filtration and compressed air, its long-term cost is relatively low compared with the "traditional" auxiliary gas cost. Laser energy is now in a focus position, and the use of compressed air can produce plasma ball on the surface of metal, its effect is similar to that produced by the use of electric power CNC plasma cutting machine. Plasma is more efficient than light in heat transfer.
